In East Chattanooga, a gathering on Juneteenth will feature workshops and performances in the Afro-Brazilian arts: Capoeira and Maculelê. The free cultural event from the nonprofit Art to Empower is Wednesday at RISE Chattanooga.

To mark this year’s summer solstice, the Clarence T. Jones Observatory - part of our campus, the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga - is opening its doors for a free public seminar on Thursday.

The nonprofit Chattanooga Design Studio is launching a six-month process - with consultant partners and community input - to develop recommendations and visions for the Civic Center District. The process begins with an open house for the public on Monday at Waterhouse Pavilion starting at 6 PM.

This month and next, films produced in Israel, Italy and the United States will be screened in person and virtually at this year’s Chattanooga Jewish Film Series. The first in-person screening for the series of Jewish-themed films is Monday, June 10th, starting at 7 PM at the Jewish Cultural Center.
