La Paz Chattanooga At 20: Taqueria Jalisco’s Jorge Parra

Molotes on the menu at Taqueria Jalisco in Chattanooga.

In 2005, a small red food truck serving Mexican food opened in Southside Chattanooga.

Over the years, the food truck became a restaurant - Taqueria Jalisco - as the neighborhood transformed into what it is today.

Taqueria Jalisco is a family business: Jorge Parra is the owner - his mother Maria is the executive chef.

This spring, I spoke with Jorge - for our series of conversations on twenty years of La Paz Chattanooga, the nonprofit serving the Hispanic / Latino community in Southeast Tennessee.

Next month, La Paz Chattanooga hosts Sangria on the Southside - for the first time in five years - on Friday, June 14th from 7 PM to 11 PM at First Horizon Pavilion.
