He’s known as “The American Songster.”
Dom Flemons is a Grammy-winning musician steeped in American roots music.
( NAT / FLEMONS / “Songster Revival” )
Last month, Dom visited Chattanooga as this city hosted the International Bluegrass Music Association’s World of Bluegrass for the first time.
At the IBMA’s awards show, he performed in honor of Arnold Shultz, bluegrass pioneer and the first African-American to be inducted into the Bluegrass Hall of Fame.
After IBMA, Dom also headlined a concert for the Levitt BLOC Chattanooga Music Series, presented by RISE Chattanooga - “BLOC” stands for “Building Layers of Community.”
Before that concert, I spoke with Dom at The Read House in downtown Chattanooga - a conversation we bring you as “Scenic Roots” expands to an hour here on WUTC.
