Soundtracking Deaf Artists: Lajos Tihanyi

When Hungarian painter Lajos Tihanyi lost his hearing to meningitis at age eleven, he transformed a devastating limitation into artistic liberation, creating bold, expressive works that spoke without sound. This week, The Soundpainter honors that legacy by pairing Tihanyi's paintings with music composed by deaf and hard -of-hearing artists, creating what he calls a "sonic landscape" that bridges two worlds of human expression.
