It happened in July a hundred years ago in Dayton: John Scopes, a high school teacher, went on trial in the Rhea County Courthouse - accused of violating a Tennessee law that barred the teaching of evolution in public schools. This July, Dayton once again holds its annual Scopes Festival.
At The Woodshop, A Concert For A Cause - For The AIM Center

This weekend, Be the Change Youth Initiative here in Chattanooga brings its “Concert for a Cause” series to the St. Elmo neighborhood. Saturday’s concert - featuring local female artists - begins at 7 PM at The Woodshop. Proceeds support The AIM Center and its mental health mission in Chattanooga.
Pops In Burr Park: Dalton’s Celebration For Independence Day

Next Friday is the Fourth of July. This Friday in downtown Dalton, starting at 6:30 PM, Pops in Burr Park celebrates Independence Day as part of Off the Rails, the free summer concert series. Among the performers: The Creative Arts Guild Chamber Orchestra.
