“The Other Ochs Brothers” At The Chattanooga Public Library

Chattanooga Public Library

At the downtown Chattanooga Public Library, you’ll find a bust of Adolph Ochs, publisher and owner of what was then The Chattanooga Times - and The New York Times, the latter still published and owned by his descendants to this day.

What you heard was Ochs from a newsreel outtake in 1928, now archived at the University of South Carolina - and shared online by Sam Hall of chattanoogahistory.com.

This summer, the downtown Chattanooga Public Library opened an exhibit - now on display through September 6th - about Adolph’s brothers, titled: “The Other Ochs Brothers: George, Milton and the Dynamo of Dixie.”

Olivia Anderson, the Library’s local history archivist, curated the exhibit.

Ray is the host and producer of "Scenic Roots" - Mondays through Thursdays at 3 PM - and WUTC's Editorial Director.
