Pointing The Way To Chattanooga’s Future

Hutchins fellows Khadesha Gordon, Dominique Malone, Marquise Tate and Ryenne McDowell - in 2019
Chattanooga Area Chamber of Commerce

How should the Chattanooga of tomorrow open the door for talented young people of color to succeed here - and stay here - after college?

The young Black men and women of the Styles L. Hutchins Fellowship Program will tell you.

They are students of our campus, the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga - and the Fellowship is a collaboration between UTC, Mayor Andy Berke’s office, the Chattanooga Area Chamber of Commerce and the Urban League.

Khadesha Gordon - who studies political science and public service at UTC - is the project implementation coach for the Fellowship.

Candy Johnson is senior advisor to Mayor Berke - and along with her colleague Katie Wells, she co-leads and coaches the Fellows.

Ray is the host and producer of "Scenic Roots" - Mondays through Thursdays at 3 PM - and WUTC's Editorial Director.
