A photo of Horatio Quiggle from the cover of the book “Through the Civil War with the 14th Ohio Infantry: Horatio Quiggle’s Memoir Service” - coedited by David Powell.

He was one of the few soldiers who served all four years of the Civil War.

And despite battle after battle, he survived unscathed.

Historian and author David Powell tells the story of one of “The Boys of ‘61” for the next talk at the Rita Vital Memorial Moccasin Bend Lecture Series, presented by National Park Partners - on Monday, starting at 7 PM, at the Tennessee Aquarium’s River Journey Auditorium.

I spoke with David - and Tricia King Mims, executive director of National Park Partners.
