Did you know an Academy Award-nominated actress with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame is buried here, in Chattanooga?
Grace Moore was born in the rural community of Del Rio, Tennessee, but went on to conquer stage and screen.
She performed on Broadway, she sang with the Metropolitan Opera, and she appeared in several Hollywood films, including her Oscar-nominated role in One Night of Love.
Meanwhile, her parents moved to Chattanooga, where they operated the city's biggest department store at the time, Loveman's, in the heart of downtown.
Grace Moore was killed in a plane crash in 1947. Her funeral was held here in Chattanooga at First Baptist Church, and she was laid to rest in Forest Hills Cemetery in St. Elmo.
