(Aired Thu 3/19/26)

This weekend, the Chattanooga Audubon Society launches a new speakers series for the rest of this year.

Shayna Chicas - a student of naturopathy outside of Maryville, and raised in Appalachia on a Cherokee reservation - will talk about “Medicine in the Mountains” at Saturday’s premiere of the Little Owl Lecture Series at Audubon Acres.

The lecture begins at 4:30 PM after a history hike to Little Owl Village that begins at 2 PM.

I spoke with Shayna - and Ava Lowery, education and museum coordinator at the Chattanooga Audubon Society.
