In 1968, the Pine Breeze Sanitarium, a hospital for tuberculosis patients, was converted into the Pine Breeze Center, a mental health facility for "emotionally disturbed" teenagers. In 1974, Ron Williams, a newly hired supervisor and old-time music enthusiast, began taking a group of kids and a reel-to-reel recorder into rural Chattanooga to record traditional folk musicians. In this episode, Alex Volz explores the music they captured and tells the story of Ron Williams.
