Tennessee and the 19th Amendment

Abby Crawford Milton
Abby Crawford Milton

In 1920, Tennessee became the 36th and final state to ratify the 19th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, securing women’s right to vote.

Local activist Abby Crawford Milton played a pivotal role in that fight - and tells her own story in this historical documentary.

Scenic Sounds host Alex Volz presents the episode, produced with the support of an artist grant from ArtsBuild.

It features music made by Chattanooga women: Catherine Campbell, Tigris Nevans, Emily Kate Boyd, Jessica Nicole Brown, Sunny War, Alva Leigh, BEMI, Call Me Spinster, and Dollars Family.
