Vlada Galan was born in Ukraine, came to this country as a girl with her mother - and grew up here in the Chattanooga area.

Now an international consultant based in Atlanta, Vlada still has family in Ukraine - and after the Russian invasion, she launched the International Ukrainian Crisis Fund to support women and children fleeing the country for refuge beyond its borders.

Listen to artists Victoria Kalaichi and Denis Sarazhin with Peggy Townsend of Townsend Atelier in Chattanooga.

Victoria Kalaichi and Denis Sarazhin are artists from Ukraine.

On February 24th, the married couple left their homeland for what was supposed to be a ten-day trip to Chattanooga - including a gallery exhibit of Victoria’s work and a workshop, both at Townsend Atelier.

Only after the couple had arrived in this country did they learn that Russia had invaded Ukraine.

Earlier this week, Victoria and Denis stopped by our studio - along with Peggy Townsend of Townsend Atelier.
