In Chattanooga, Trump Sounds (Mostly) Confident About Republicans' Tuesday Turnout

WUTC

President Donald Trump and Vice President Mike Pence appeared at a Chattanooga, Tennessee campaign rally Sunday evening, just two days ahead of the November midterm elections.

"Gotta win the House," Trump said. "I think we’re doing great in the House. I think we’re doing great in the Senate. But who knows, right? Who knows? You gotta get out to vote."

Trump and Pence encouraged the crowd to vote for Marsha Blackburn, Tennessee’s Republican candidate for Senate. She faces Phil Bredesen, the last Democrat to serve as the state’s Governor.

Blackburn aligns herself closely with Trump. Bredesen, who held his own event nearby earlier in the day, touts himself as bipartisan.

"Look, I belong to the Democratic party," Bredesen said at an interfaith lunch at the Bessie Smith Cultural Center. "It’s an organization I belong to, not a religion."

Bredesen and Blackburn hope to replace retiring Republican Senator Bob Corker.
