Remembering 9/11, Twenty Years Later, In Chattanooga

From a 9/11 remembrance at UTC in 2015.
Billy Weeks / UTC

In New York City, these words from the Roman poet Virgil are inscribed underground:  “No Day Shall Erase You From the Memory of Time.”

They are part of the National September 11th Memorial and Museum - I have been there and I have seen those words.

On Saturday, this nation marks twenty years since the terrorist attacks of September 11th, 2001.

On that day - and for many years after - New York was my home.

Here in Chattanooga, a 9/11 remembrance will be held Saturday at Ross’ Landing on Riverfront Parkway, starting at 10 AM - hosted by the Chattanooga Fire Department and the City of Chattanooga.

I spoke with Chattanooga Fire Chief Phil Hyman and Deputy Chief Rick Boatwright.

-

On Sunday, the Chattanooga 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb and 3.43 Mile Memorial Walk will take place at AT&T Field.
