For historic preservation here in Chattanooga, 2025 was a rough year.

But so far in 2026, the recent withdrawal of a proposed rezoning of 19 Patten Parkway tells a different story.

Meantime, a few weeks ago, an exhibit on Chattanooga’s architectural landscape opened at AVA, the Association for Visual Arts - titled, “Ghosts in the Walls: Preservation as Memory.”

On Saturday, starting at 10 AM at AVA, Preserve Chattanooga - the historic preservation nonprofit in this city - will host a conversation at what it calls “the intersection of preservation and artistic expression.”

Todd Morgan is executive director of Preserve Chattanooga.
