Imagine a classical string quartet infused with jazz, folk, bluegrass, Latin, rock, funk and improvisational traditions.
For more than four decades, the Turtle Island String Quartet has redefined classical music, nominated for one Grammy - and winning another - along the way.
On Tuesday, the quartet returns to our campus, the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga - as part of the UTC Live! concert series - starting at 7:30 PM in the Roland Hayes Concert Hall in the Fine Arts Center.
David Balakrishnan is violinist and artistic director of the Turtle Island Quartet.
Bob Boyer is director of performances at the Fine Arts Center.
