A century and a year ago, the Scopes Trial in Dayton, Tennessee gripped the nation and the world.

“Destiny in Dayton” is a two-hour play, adapted from the transcript of the 1925 trial - and performed in the Rhea County Courthouse where the trial was held.

This year’s performances of the play - part of the annual Scopes Festival in Dayton - began last week, with another performance this Friday at 7 PM and the final performance on Saturday at 2 PM.

Rick Dye is president of the Rhea Heritage Preservation Foundation.
