In Bradley County, Project River is a proposed development that would build an energy campus - powered by natural gas and woody biomass - that could host a data center.
The land for the project is owned by the Wright family, founders and owners of Wright Brothers Construction Company in Charleston.
The family has applied to the City of Cleveland to rezone and annex about 850 acres of land, west of I-75 and north of Old Lower River Road NW.
This weekend, the developers will host a second meeting for the public on the project at the PIE Center in Cleveland - on Saturday from 10 AM to Noon.
Later this month, Cleveland’s planning commission and city council are expected to take their first votes on the project.
Between fierce opposition to data centers nationwide - and local concerns about Project River, including its proximity to the Hiwassee River - the developers are making their case as Bradley County residents are making their voices heard.
